Wolves, bears, mutants, soldiers, venomous snakes and spiders, and who knows what else. Probably why most human's didn't try to get into it in the forest in the first place. Wolf on the other hand, wasn't one of your average humans, nor was he a mutant trying to escape the government. The tall man had been tracking a new mutant, not really sure on the powers yet, not that he really cared, he wasn't exactly trying to catch anything yet, he didn't have any new orders in either, so it wasn't exactly like he had to do a job at the moment. The tall man's footsteps were quiet on the edge of the woods as he looked out at the raging river. Most people would have a hard time hearing anything over the sound of the rapids, granted, Wolf had some trouble too, but he was always on guard. The dogs at his side were sniffing around, pacing behind his legs. Alpha dog always stayed in front unless the others were commanded to move forward right? Wolf's red eyes shifted down as he stroked one of the dogs heads. He honestly didn't need the dogs for tracking, but it made for good company, and made things a little easier at times, depending on mutant's powers. Letting out a gruff sigh he stepped forward adjusting the sniper rifle slung over his shoulder, stopping once he was on the edge of the river. Bending down he pulled off one of his leather gloves with his teeth and used his bare fingertips to trace over some fresh shoe tracks, and then over some deer tracks. The shoes were only a couple of hours old, and the deer was maybe only twenty minutes. Now, was he more worried about catching a mutant, or giving his wolf dogs something fun to do... or he could do both. He called the dogs over with a "come hither" finger motion and had them catch the deer's scent then waved them out watching them disappear into the woods in a hurry. Never hurt to let them get some fresh meat. He rinsed the mud from his fingers in the river then stood up slipping the glove back onto his hand looking around, adjusting the wide brimmed hat on his head. It was obvious that the mutant had crossed the river, and by the looks of it, the stones that had been used to cross had been covered up by the high water level, meaning their must have been a storm somewhere up river recently, or that the mutant had some sort of power to get them across. As for wolf, he would have to find another way across. He started walking up river, looking for another path. speech [/style] |
