He sat hunched over a small patch of flowers. A bright yellow plant that grew in small bits all over the area. Their brightness always pleased the generally negative man. He watched the flowers as he held this group up, encouraging it to bloom and grow larger. If he had the ability he would make this whole area around this lake bright with those yellow flowers. It would be paradise for Nikolai.
"There you are." His smile widened as the flower fully bloomed. "I knew you could." It was like the plants were his only friends, and in some way it seemed to be such a pathetic existence. To only speak to the blooming flowers that he created. They were not nearly as social as any of the other... beings in this forest. Yet Nikolai always went back to the plants and his gardens. He had many along the paths through the forest, and in many out of the way areas. He just loved to create, such an opposite hobby to his normal violence. In one day he could go from ending a life, to starting a new life of another set of flowers. And out here, he didn't care if anyone saw. Any human out here would likely be alone.
Gently he plucked the group of yellow flowers from the green grass that surrounded them. Standing, he closed his eyes and smelled the wonderful scent of these flowers. "It never gets old." His voice was soft, his face pleasant, something most anyone would be surprised to see from him. He looked around him, holding the flowers in his right hand. This was a beautiful place to live. Even if he weren't a mutant, and wasn't fighting the government, he would chose to live here. The water, the trees, the flowers. It was the best nature home he could dream of. This was everything he wanted.
Rustling behind him turned Nikolai's face to a stone cold frown. "Who is there?" He asked in his normal grumpy voice. He noticed any change in this place. He knew it so well. "I don't appreciate sneaking around, so I hope you haven't been there for too long." He wasn't scared or worried about anything. If it were a human there, he could easily deal with them and whatever they had seen. He turned around, looking around quickly for whoever he had heard approaching him. He didn't look happy, but then in the presence of others, he never did.[/style][style=font-family: Helvetica Neue; color: #7a270f; font-size: 10px; letter-spacing: 5px; text-align: center; font-weight: 100!important;]Words; 435 | To; open | Notes; ((Shorter, but I'm not the best at starting either.))[/style] |

god, he needed a smoke.
out of money and out of booze, he'd had no choice but to wander for a while. sasha had hoped he might come upon some poor fool to pickpocket, or a lazy housekeeper who left a door open, but the brunette had had no such luck. how was he supposed to? lady luck had, for lack of a better term, screwed him over. she led him on and then dumped him in the dust, making him believe that good things could happen. yeah right. good things my ass.
at any rate, he'd somehow managed to find himself out by the lake. when was the last time he'd come anywhere like this? sasha had taken to keeping to himself in the darker parts of the district, stealing when he could and smoking more often than that. the nineteen year old looked infinitely tired for being so young - pale as a wraith and sleepless, with all gratitude to withdrawal for those accents now. he took in a deep breath and tugged his jacket tighter around him, feeling a chill despite the regular temperature of the air.
"I don't appreciate sneaking around, so I hope you haven't been there for too long."
sasha jumped. the form of a large, broad-shouldered man became visible, and he bristled. "i-i wasn't sneaking around!" he defended. "i was just... just trying to find some place to be, that's all." he peered more closely at the figure, eyes scrunching. "what's a guy like you doing out here anyway?" i believe in you, i can show you that i can see right through all your empty lies words ### tagged nikolai comments finally got that up for you! template © lise of back to neverland

Nikolai didn't sound to believe him. He never took anyone's words for truth. The large man turned around, looking down to pick at the flowers before he dropped them to the ground. He couldn't be seen as some guy here to smell flowers. That would just be wrong, and lose all respect he had from anyone. He couldn't do that. He was already hated, being that flower guy would just make him weaker to everyone else. It wasn't worth worrying about, but he did anyways. He hoped this guy hadn't seen much.
"Looking for some place to be? Well, I'm here already." Nikolai growled. Sure he had no right to claim the lake, but he could try. Maybe this guy would listen to him. A few people had before. Nikolai walked closer to the other man. "I'm here first, and I would much rather to be left alone." His eyes narrowed as he watched this young man. "Who are you?" He asked. He wanted to know whether this man were a mutant or a human. That would make a huge difference to Nikolai how he reacted to this person.
"I have every right to be here without being questioned why. Nobody owns this lake." He scoffed slightly. He was almost contradicting himself as he said it though. "But, since you so nicely asked, I'm here to enjoy some quiet. The city is just too loud sometimes you know." He turned back around away from the man, walking toward the water. "But it isn't safe for most people out here. I'm willing to take the risk to get some time alone." Nikolai looked into the water, leaning down and picking up a rock. He didn't really like keeping eye contact. He didn't like anyone thinking they had his full attention.
"Why would some young guy like you pick this spot to come wander to? You do know those mutants live out here. Running into one of them wouldn't end so well so far from town." He threw the stone as far into the lake as he could before looking back to the young man. "Unless, you are one of them yourself." He didn't sound pleased at the idea that this other was a mutant, but then that was a part of his act. He needed to remain appearing human as long as he could, and humans hated the mutants. If this were a human he was talking to, he was sure he would believe it. If it were a mutant, Nikolai really didn't care.[/style][style=font-family: Helvetica Neue; color: #7a270f; font-size: 10px; letter-spacing: 5px; text-align: center; font-weight: 100!important;]WORDS; 425 | TO; Sasha | NOTES; (())[/style] |

"hey, whaddya mean, some guy like me?"
there was a definite fearless sneer on sasha's face now. god, but he was sick and tired of people looking down on him. he wasn't that far gone, was he? sure, he was a little bony - pale, dark circles under the eyes, malnutritioned - but regardless of what his father said, he was still the son of an important politician. regardless of the mutant blood coursing through his veins, he still ought to have demanded some sort of respect, right?
but then, he couldn't have expected this man to just know who he was, either. scowling and scuffing his feet on the ground, he looked down, surly. what a way to put him in a fuss.
"so what if i'm a mutant?" he snapped belligerently. "a guy like me can do whatever i want. it's practically a free country out here. you don't own the ground."
maybe it was his lack of drugs and booze that was making him such a brat. but he didn't care. he just wanted to curl up somewhere he could wait for his head to stop hurting so. miserable and in pain, he glared at the taller, bulkier man - jesus, the guy was built like a mountain! if he got into a fight with the guy, there was no way he could last. oh, sure, he could be fast enough. but his entire body screamed with protest when he tried to move. he was tired. he was starved. he wanted a goddamn cigarette. was that too much to ask for?
"besides," he continued, in the fashion of a petulant child, "i guess it's not any of my business what you're doing out here. i was just wondering was all. jeez." i believe in you, i can show you that i can see right through all your empty lies tagged nikolai comments ----- template © lise of back to neverland
