People- mutants- threw their money into this well and made wishes that they thought this big monument of stone could grant for them. But, if a person were to stand in the fountain, it would probably barely go past their knees if they were an average height. Someone could just reach on in there and hoard all those coins for themselves. Someone could get themselves a new pair of shoes with all these shiny, wet pennies. But Charlotte wasn't going to ruin people's dreams by stealing their thrown away money from this giant basin of water. She had her own money to use. Charlotte had her head submerged in the fountain water, not coming up from it for a long twenty seconds. Her eyes were open, her cheeks puffed out from the air she held in, and she was running her fingers through her blond locks, making sure the water was getting every last strand soaked. As the woman came up for air, she gasped and shook her head, water being flung in all directions from her hair. Though she might have looked stupid and brought up a lot of questions why she looked like she'd been drowning herself, Charlotte had a very good reason for it. Her body seemed drenched in sweat- which wasn't very lady-like!- and she needed to wash up and cool off. She had ran all the way here, avoiding those damned soldiers and trying to get somewhere safe. Osiris District was always safe. At least, ever since it had been blown to bits by the military, it has been. There was a low growling sound and, after looking around to see if a dog had spotted her, she realized that it was just coming from her stomach. Charlotte sighed loudly, sitting on the ground with her back against the edge of the fountain. Her hand rested gently on her stomach, massaging it gently and wishing that could make it shut up. She already had breakfast! It was past lunch, but it was normal for her to skip lunch. She shouldn't have already been hungry. But, from how it looked, she was and it couldn't be helped. [/style]

When she told of her secret, it may of hurt Sterling, but Emi saw her no different. She made sure the other knew this too, always sticking close to her, always trying to be close.. and she always watched out for her! That is why, when Emily had seen the soldiers.. then saw Char.. she followed. She didn't runr ight up to her, staying back a bit, but followed close enough that when the Soldier's lost her, Emi didn't. It wasn't easy either - that woman was fit! Finally though, the girl caught up. She ran till she was at the well edge.. then leaned forward with her fingers gripping the fabrics of her capris, taking deep breaths. It took a few moments.. but finally the girl stood up straight and approached.. reaching a slow hand out to touch the woman's shoulder. "C-Char.. I caught up to you!. She gave a shaky smile now.. her hand dropping as her smile grew a bit moree confident, her face lighting up. "I was.. worried they were going to hurt you, so I followed! .. you run really fast... The human girl spoke so freely, unafraid of the other, even happy. This was her friend - this was sterling's friend, despite whatever he said.[/style]

The girl was just too cute and Char couldn’t get enough of her! But why she was here right now of all times, Charlotte had to wonder. She didn’t even look like she had any baskets of cakes or cookies to deliver. Charlotte always imagined baked goods being delivered the way Red Riding Hood did it. There went any chance of getting anything to fill her belly. There couldn’t be a place far from the fountain that had some food to offer her- or them. ”Hey, Babycakes. You were worried about little old me? Too cute. But you know I can handle myself. No soldier is gonna get their paws on me without my permission,” Charlotte reminded her, a cocky smirk plastered to her face. With a gloved hand, she reached up, taking Emily’s smaller hand in hers and giving a tug. Char was still seated on the concrete around the fountain and having to look up at the other to speak was a pain in the neck, for sure. ”Sit beside me, Emi Baby. Too old to be looking that high up.” She was always joking about her age. She was only in her thirties, but she always liked to pretend that was the equivalent to being eighty. Charlotte was always talking about back and neck problems to get out of doing things. But she didn’t have either of those. It was just all fun and Charlotte being lazy. But right now, she just wanted a reason to get cuddly with Emily and that would prove difficult as long as the other girl was standing. [/style]

He still cares about her, horribly.. and only wanted to keep her safe.. such a ..sweet heart. Even after they split though, Emi never stopped. She still loved Charlotte, often visited and would spend days with her. For the blonde child to be chasing after her now, worried for her safety.. it wasn't nothing all that shocking. Sitting with the woman.. Emily stared at her before laughing gently and squeezed the other's hand. She didn't let go, resting their shoulders together. "I.. I was worried about you! .. I thought, if something happened.. I would help." Not like her help would be very much.. well, or so most people assumed. Emily wasn't all that pathetic! Her mother raised her tough.. "Char, why were they chasing you..? Did something.. happen?" Those blue eyes stared at her, curious.. but then paused and sighed. "..Or were they just ..picking off again?" That was the term she used for when those soldiers simply picked off mutants because they could. It was not.. something she enjoyed - but not something she could fight.. as much as she wanted to. Still, Charlotte was safe! That was all that mattered, and a warm smile grew on his face, lighting it up as she thought this, gently hugging the woman. It made Charlotte no different than any other woman or man. But few people ever worried about Charlotte. Almost everyone knew for a fact that the woman was old enough and strong enough to take care of herself. Even Charlotte knew she could easily take care of herself and nothing would go wrong. But that didn't mean she wanted people to not worry or care about what happened to her. She enjoyed when other worried- when Emily worried- because it reminded her that she had friends, not just a bunch of allies and bed buddies. "I didn't do nothing wrong! They just saw me, recognized this pretty face and BANG! came right after me that instant," Charlotte explained, summarizing for the other what had happened. She didn't bother to talk about how long she'd been running or the few times they'd succeeded to throw items at her and most probably bruise areas of her body. But she was tougher than that. No object- big or small- was going to stop her from running if it was thrown at her. With a weak sigh and a light yawn, Charlotte stretched her legs out, shifting her body in the other's arms to try and lay herself out against Emily's lap. Though her back was against the young girl's lap, her head rested against her nice, cushiony chest. The possibly perverse older woman smiled and peeked up at the girl, her blue eyes bright and mischievous. "Shocked you caught up. But seeing as that you're here..." the woman trailed off, giving a little wink. She held the silence a moment before finally finishing her sentence. "You wouldn't happen to have any munchies hidden away, would ya? I'm starvin' and feel about ready to eat a horse if I've gotta! But your buns are just as tasty as any horse, Emi. I know that better than anyone." [/style]

It wasn't much, just a nutrigrain bar, and she placed it on the other's stomach before hugging Char sweetly and buried her face in the blonde locks. "Well, you certainly has a face someone can over look.. I guess it's a blessing and a curse during these days!" She laughed warmly and kissed the other's head once before sighing.. and letting the other eat for a few moments. She deserved some rest. After some time though, she did squeeze Char, grinning. "I take it you are in a pickle.. want to come home with me tonight? No one checks me the route I take! ..plus.. I can feed you a ton!" There was a joy in the girl's voice -- she seemed thrilled to have found this beautiful mutant, a old friend. [/style]
