• mercy mae has a mild case of narcolepsy triggered by laughing too hard. when she laughs too hard, cataplexy sets in and her knees and muscles give way until she falls flat on the ground. however, she doesn't fully fall asleep - merely dozes for a few moments until her muscles tighten again and she's able to stand. she tries to avoid laughing too hard, but sometimes certain things catch her off guard.
  
  
• mercy had mutant lover who she planned on wedding as best as they could in the refugee camp, but he was captured by soldiers. to her utter devastation, she found out she was pregnant several weeks later. mercy miscarried by falling heavily to the ground in her second trimester during a soldier raid on the refugee camp. she's terrified of giving herself away to anyone else and mostly keeps to herself nowadays.
  
  
• were mercy to become enamored with anyone else, she would likely follow and protect them until she dies. she feels as if she has little else to live for except the preservation and protection of others - her? she's just collateral damage.
  
  
• mercy adores all animals and says a prayer (though she isn't religious in the formal sense) before killing anything to feed the hungry refugees. she attempts to use every piece of an animal, and thus has an assortment of fur blankets and clothing as well as bone necklaces and knives. she also carves on the larger bones of the animals, making intricate designs and hanging them about the camp. even the most desolate places need a little beauty.
