It was nearly deserted, she observed, although it made sense. Everyone was usually busy with something. The pink haired mutant was sure she should have been doing the same. A midafternoon nap had called to her, though, and she wasn’t able to resist the urge. The nap had been wonderful. It was definitely worth wasting half the day sleeping when she should have waited for the night to fall before deciding to sleep at all. Unfortunately, at night, she found it harder to sleep. Her dark room brought back painful memories. The only thing that saved her from getting to restless were the mounds of blankets that made up her ‘bed’. It was heavenly. Well, she supposed she should start doing something productive. . . but what? Dragging her feet through camp, she felt rather reluctant to seek any sort of activity to occupy herself with, but she knew she should. Should she hunt? No. She was pretty sure there were more than enough people off completing that task. Maybe she should gather water? … No. Hmm.. She didn’t think it was that hard to find something to do. . . or maybe it was just because she really didn’t want to do anything. Was it bad to want a lazy day every now and again? No. It couldn’t have been. . . But she didn’t have that luxury, did she? None of the mutants, as they were so viciously called, did. The girl sighed. What she really wanted to do was relax. Fighting and killing weren’t things she prided herself in doing. Nessa didn’t want to hurt anyone. She didn’t like being hurt so it wasn’t far to cause injury on other people… but the people without powers hated the people with them. So there was fighting. She felt the need to protect her allies. Nessa sighed again. Would there be a time when everyone lived together without fighting? He loved camping - it was something that he learned from his other brother to enjoy. His older brother taught him lots of things, all of which he loves! from simple things like this.. to training his power. His brother had done so much for him. Gave him family, hope.. a reason to live, despite the loss of normality and his real parents.. the youth didn't like to think about them. They were dead to him and the world. He had new parents now - ones that actually loved him.
In this moment, Dustin had gone out to get more wood. They were starting to run low so him and a few others headed out to get the job done. It was pretty warm today - which was rather nice, a nice change. Even more so since it meant the other didn't have to wear a jacket - instead he was able to settle for a simple blue flannel over his black tee. Of course, it certainly wasn't short-season yet, hence the boy's jeans...not that he wore shorts, often. He wasn't one for showing skin - he would have been a prude of a girl in his dressing.. at least that's what people tell him at times - tsk.
Lost in his thoughts, the boy almost didn't notice the girl, not until he walked past her. Stopping in his tracks, Dustin waited a moment before turning his head to look at her. Those blue eyes were full of a curiousness, for once both very visible, since the boy tied back his rather outgrown hair. It went to his shoulders, and damn if it didn't get in the way often. When searching for wood and carrying it, he felt it was best to keep it out of his face.. it exposed his face fully, as well as that smile he sent the girls way as he warmly greeted her. "Nessa, are you doing well...? You seem a bit pale.." The smile stayed, but the male shifted on his feet, eyeing her. ".. Need any help with somethin'? I got time to help!" [/style] |

Nessa moved her gaze onto the male who had spoken to her. If she had been anywhere else, she was sure that he would have startled her, but in their sanctuary, Nessa felt safe. Anywhere else, she wouldn’t have even dared to lose herself in her thoughts like that. It was nice, at least, to have somewhere that felt safe the pink haired girl decided. “Dustin,” Nessa greeted back, flashing a half smile his way. She observed him for a few moments after, noting his body language as she did with most people. For the longest time, she was only able to communicate through her body language. No, not like sign language. She was never taught that. She conveyed everything she wished to say through gestures and showing people things. It was almost like she was constantly playing charades. “M’okay.” Pale? She touched her face as if just by touching the soft flesh she would know whether what he said was true or not. “M’okay.” She assured. Nessa wasn’t quite sure what his body language conveyed as he observed her, shifting on his feet, but his words offered her his assistance. That was enough right? “Dunno what to do,” she muttered in her broken dialogue. “Yes. Need help.” Maybe some guidance would help her shake the slump she seemed to have fallen into.
